You just don't see enough eating competitions these days, do you? Which is exactly why we've decided to begin what we are in no doubt is to become the biggest annual event on the Shanghai social calendar... The Great Pie Challenge.

We've teamed up with those pie-cooking legends down at the Shanghai Pie Company, their distributor and purveyors of all things tasty, Elders, and our good friends down at Kommune Cafe to bring you the biggest evening of pies Shanghai has ever seen this Friday September 11th.

The evening goes like this:

You arrive. You drink cheap beer. You eat free pies. You watch the pie competition. You taste a bunch of pies and pick your favorite. You drink some more. You have another pie. You go home fat and happy. Done.

How does the competition work? We have two basketball player, two rugby players, two cricket players, two football players and two Aussie rules players and we're setting them the very simple task:

Eat as many pies as you can in 10 minutes.

You've all seen barforama scene in Stand By Me. You've all watched Kobayashi challenge a bear to a hotdog eating competition, but now is your chance to watch the thrills, spills and the undoubted bellyaches of an eating competion live and in the flesh.

Just turn up at Kommune on Friday September 11 from 6pm and laugh your tits off!
