The Fashion Week Chronicles is Urbanatomy's series of interviews with the designers on show at the Shanghai Fashion Week last month.

This time around, Elysee Yang...

What was the inspiration behind your collection?

I wanted to focus on the economy and the price of high fashion at the moment. I want to help and teach people to be positive to the current climate now.

What is the biggest challenge facing the fashion industry at the moment?
The biggest challenge to my industry is the future. You cannot see into the future, and it is difficult to know what to expect, which interests me.

What do you think of China’s growing fashion industry?
China is open and a popular designer area. As you can tell by Shanghai Fashion Week being here, it is open to new concepts.
