Intriguing piece in the People's Daily about China's improving image in Hollywood. The writer points to the disaster film 2012, which contains "pro-China messages," and movies like Kung Fu Panda which, he says, have softened the portrayal of China in Tinsel Town.

Hang on a bit. Isn't he forgetting the villainous General Cheng Zhi from 24 Season 4, 5 & 6? You know, the guy who tortured Jack and made him grow that awful beard and who gave poor Audrey a nervous breakdown?

Cheng Zhi: "You surely must be aware, Mr. Bauer, that China has a long memory."

So do we, even if the People's Daily doesn't...
