Tuesday, 24 November 2009 07:11 Written by Berwin Song If you missed checking out The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien the last time you were in LA, now’s your chance to be part of a talk show studio audience with Asia Uncut, which is coming to Shanghai to tape its second season. This English-language talk show is pretty much the first of its kind for Asia; among the highlights of the show’s debut season, filmed on location in Singapore, were Ethan Hawke, Jennifer Garner, Maggie Q and James Blunt (in addition, of course, to plenty of local talent and stars). The second season will bring back host Jon Niermann, along with a nicely localized, fresh makeover. Popular hometown trumpeter Theo Croker will be on hand to lead the house band, and local production company Fly Films is hoping to fill the studio with a local, English-speaking Shanghai audience. To that end, they’re offering free tickets to each taping session – for tickets, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it – free drinks and transportation to the TV studio (located out in Zhabei, along Guangzhong Lu; pick-up location to be announced) will also be provided. The first taping session is scheduled for next Wednesday, Dec 2 – expect to see a performance from featured musical guest New Pants (those quirky nu-disco rockers from Beijing). Other confirmed taping dates are Dec 10 and 15 (taping will continue through April), with more special guests and musical acts tba – though rumor has it that there will be several Hollywood A-listers, including Ed Norton and Sir Ben Kingsley, making appearances sometime this season. The show will begin airing on the Star World Satellite in January, which unfortunately, isn’t available in Shanghai (though you can pick it up via pirated Hong Kong or Filipino satellites). We’re still considering this to be a pretty major local production, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to be part of it! // To reserve a spot for any of the episode tapings, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . They’ll also provide you with a time and place for the pick-up. The show is suitable for all ages. Visit www.asiauncut.com for more info.
