Glamour Bar Summer Menu

We finally manage to take Glamour Bar up on their long-standing offer of introducing us to the summer additions to their cocktail and snack menus last week. We felt a bit giddy about our good luck being seating on a lush sofa looking out onto the city lights, glimmering prettily in the night - no, they didn't know we were coming, we just got lucky - and after admiring the view, set to work on ordering.

For my first drink I had A Berry full of Thistles. It was a cool and refreshing mix of whiskey, raspberry liqueur, berries and a dash of lime. Not too sweet, it was a nice kick start for the evening. My companion choose the rather irreverently titled (they obviously had a lot of fun during the naming process) Dirty Bloody Mexican - a Bloody Mary hybrid topped with a bit of beer. Sounds weird but it works. We followed with the Lime, the Witch and the Wardrobe, a sour and tasty mix of vodka, white chocolate liqueur, grapefruit, passion fruit and lime. Our final arrival, Homer's Odyssey (pictured), was the icing on our cocktail cake. Appearing with a single absinthe soaked lychee we chuckled over the 'eye' and gobbled down the green fairy infusion (a fiery fairy at that, and one you know is going to work it's magic). All that was to sip on the vodka, blueberry and white chocolate liqueur concoction and wait to slip into a higher state of consciousness.

To keep our fingers busy and mouths merry we picked dolma, sigara boregi, and spicy lamb meatballs. The dolma were light, cool and large. Big fat, stuffed vine leaves with herb seasoned rice, simple and delightful. Next came the sigara boregi which popped into our mouths. Flaky filo with a spinach and feta filling, it disappeared quickly. Topping out the feast, and by far our favorite, was the spicy lamb meatballs. Savory, the spices and lamb wove a heavy flavor well-balanced by the yogurt sauce. Stuffed, we sat back feeling like Odysseus lounging lazily with Circe - and yes, the turning us into pigs metaphor would certainly apply...
